Enter Slowly (title taken from a wall text Gray stenciled in the entrance of her iconic modernist house, E1027) is an evolving work and research project based loosely around the idea of a murder-mystery and inspired by Agatha Christie's Endless Night. Following on from my 2007 re-enactment at the ICA - Concerto for Voice & Machinery - it was initiated by filming inside RIBA's 2009 1:1 reconstruction of le Corbusier’s Cabanon in London and followed by a pilgrimage to Roquebrune where the real Cabanon sits next to Eileen Gray’s iconic E1027 house. There, a complex story of characters, relationships, ego, desire, obsession, betrayal and ultimately murder unfolds. Using design and abstraction as a springboard for exploring narrative, Enter Slowly is a multi-media and rhizomatic project exploring the combined narratives & myths in a weaving of fact and fiction.
